Frequently asked questions

The best choice depends on your career goals and the kind of AI capability you want to build. When comparing AI diploma courses or selecting a Diploma in AI, look closely at whether the program is geared toward technical development, such as coding and machine learning, or toward leadership, strategy, governance and responsible implementation. If you want to move into roles that involve guiding AI adoption, shaping organisational decisions and working across business and technology teams, UNSW Online’s Graduate Diploma in AI Leadership and Strategy offers a strong leadership-focused pathway.

An online graduate diploma can offer that flexibility, while also providing a clear pathway to further postgraduate study if you decide to continue building your qualifications.

A Graduate Diploma in AI can be worth it if you want to build practical, job-relevant capability in a fast-moving field without committing to a full master’s degree straight away. A well-designed program can help you develop skills in AI strategy, governance, risk, responsible implementation and decision-making, while giving you knowledge you can apply immediately in workplace settings. For working professionals, studying 100% online also makes it easier to upskill, use what you learn on the job, and keep building momentum in your career.

The cost of a Graduate Diploma in AI varies depending on the provider, program structure and number of courses required. For our most accurate and current pricing, it’s best to check the official UNSW Online fees page or speak with a Student Advisor. Artificial intelligence is the broader field focused on systems that can perform tasks that usually require human intelligence, such as reasoning, planning, language processing and decision support. Machine learning is a subset of AI that uses data to identify patterns and improve performance over time.

If your focus is on building models, a technical machine learning program may suit you. If you want to lead AI adoption and strategy, a broader AI leadership program may be more relevant.

The best university for AI in Australia depends on your goals, experience and the kind of capability you want to build. Some programs focus on technical skills such as machine learning, coding and data science, while others are better suited to professionals interested in leadership, strategy, governance and responsible implementation. If you are searching for the best artificial intelligence course in Australia, it helps to compare each university’s course focus, delivery mode, flexibility and how well the curriculum aligns with your career plans.
